Our day started with a quick trip to the shops (a girl can't have too many shoes..n'est pas?) before our driver Alex arrived to collect us for a 2 1/2 hour drive into the Picos mountains. So as you can see below, the scenery has changed dramatically from yesterday.
Below is the view from our room for the night and our first view of the mountains we are heading for in the morning. Our driver Alex gave us a brief overview of our hiking paths for the next few days and then left us with our hosts for the night. Our Inn for the night was a very small family run place where we were treated to a delicious, hearty family style regional dinner packed with cured meats, chic peas and cabbage.
Ah, a refreshing beverage for the road weary travelers!
